The story behind Van Kala
A Warli line drawn on clay is not decoration. It is a wedding, a harvest, a hunt — a whole village recorded in three shapes: circle, triangle, line.
Van Kala carries that grammar into things you actually use — bamboo lighting, storage baskets, children's toys, desk organisers, festive hampers. Every piece is cut from clump-managed bamboo, so the grove regenerates faster than it is harvested.
The craft was almost gone in 2019, down to nine working artisans. There are forty-one today.
