The story behind Van Arogya

Long before a chemist shop reached Jhagadia, the Vasava grandmothers knew which leaf brought down a fever and which root settled a stomach. That knowledge was never written down — it was walked, season after season, into the hills above the Narmada.

Van Arogya turns that inheritance into an enterprise the community owns. Tulsi, lemongrass, moringa and amla are harvested by women's self-help groups, solar-dried in the village, blended, tested and packed under one brand — with the price of the raw leaf negotiated by the collectors themselves, not a trader at the mandi gate.

Every tin you buy keeps a drying unit running through the monsoon, and keeps a young woman from boarding the 5 a.m. bus to a factory in Ankleshwar.
