Single-issue projects rarely hold in a tribal village. Income without childcare fails; schooling without nutrition fails; youth training without a local market simply exports the youth. The Anudaan programme is designed as one integrated plan across five cohorts.
Women — livelihoods, forest produce, micro-enterprise
Bamboo handicrafts, cane furniture, sabai grass products, natural-fibre bags, handmade toys, tribal jewellery, traditional embroidery and leaf plates on the craft side. Mahua and tamarind processing, honey collection and branding, amla processing, herbal tea, turmeric and dry spices, natural colours and medicinal herbs on the forest-produce side. Millet snacks, ready-to-cook mixes, pickles, papad, solar drying units and community kitchens as micro-enterprises.
Men — agriculture, income, skills
Organic and natural farming, drip irrigation, multi-layer farming, agroforestry, seed banks and vermicomposting. Poultry, goat rearing, dairy cooperatives, fisheries where feasible, mushroom cultivation and beekeeping for income. Electrician, solar technician, mason, plumbing, welding, farm-machinery operation and rural entrepreneurship for skilling.
Children — foundational learning, IKS, nutrition
Early childhood centres, Bal Vanam-inspired learning spaces, reading clubs, STEM labs, digital classrooms and a Library-on-Wheels. Indian Knowledge Systems through folk music, tribal storytelling, nature learning, sound pedagogy, local ecology, indigenous games, traditional mathematics and Sanskrit exposure. Kitchen gardens, nutrition education, school breakfast, anaemia prevention and health screening.
Youth — employability and enterprise
Spoken English, digital literacy, AI basics, coding clubs, drone training, GIS mapping, entrepreneurship incubation, career counselling, competitive-exam preparation and campus placement support.
Elderly — dignity and knowledge transfer
Community day-care centres, Ayurveda and yoga, traditional knowledge documentation, storytelling circles, herbal medicine gardens, intergenerational learning, nutrition support and preventive health camps.
Tribal knowledge documentation
Running underneath all five cohorts: medicinal plants, forest foods, folk songs, tribal musical instruments, oral histories, agricultural calendars, water conservation practices, indigenous architecture, traditional healing, sacred groves and seed diversity — recorded with the community, credited to the community.
